Solomon Airlines newly appointed managers of International Ground Operations and Quality Assurance - 145, today received their Fit and Proper Person (FPP) Certificates granted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Solomon Islands (CAASI).

The CEO of Solomon Airlines, Mr. Gus Kraus together with other senior executives from the airline, were present to witness the handing over of the certificates to newly appointed managers, Obed Odogari Manager Ground Operations (International) and Aketa Nanauasi, Manager Quality Assurance - 145.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Solomon Islands (CAASI) grants FPP Certificates to certain responsible aviation roles after rigorous checks and assessments of individual applicants.

“Aviation is necessarily a highly regulated industry and the FPP Certificate is required by those in key positions managing safety and security functions,” said CEO of Solomon Airlines Mr. Gus Kraus.

“In order to obtain that clearance and privilege, candidates must go through a series of assessments and tests conducted by CAASI.

“Obed and Aketa have been appointed to vital operations and quality roles within Solomon Airlines after meeting the approval of CAASI. They have accepted their appointments to work with the national carrier and help lead the airline to the very best of their ability.

“We are proud to have them as part of our senior team as we focus on a brighter future ahead,” Mr Kraus said.

Both Obed Odogari and Aketa Nanauasi have strong backgrounds in the aviation industry.

Mr Odogari started with Solomon Airlines as a Cargo Officer in 2000 and worked through historical changes to the position of Traffic Supervisor in 2003. He was later promoted to Traffic Manager in 2006 before resigning in 2009.

In July 2022 he rejoined the airline as Ramp Coordinator. After now attaining the CAASI approved FFP Certificate, he now takes up the position of Manager Ground Operations (International).

Mrs Nanauasi commenced with Solomon Airlines in 2008 as a Trainee Engineer. In the same year, she was transferred to the Quality Assurance Department, as Assistant Quality Assurance Officer.

In 2018, Mrs Nanauasi was offered a position in the Operations Control Center (OCC) Department as OCC Officer until 2020. After attaining the CAASI approved FFP Certificate, she was recently reappointed as Quality Assurance Manager – 145.
