Solomon Airlines Suspends Lomlom Services Effective Immediately

Solomon Airlines has announced the immediate suspension of all flight operations to Lomlom Airport due to safety concerns related to the condition of the airport runway. The decision comes after recent inspections revealed significant overgrowth along the airstrip, posing a safety risk to aircraft and passengers.

“Safety is our priority. Until the runway at Lomlom is adequately cleared and meets the required safety standards, we have no choice but to temporarily suspend our services.” said Solomon Airlines’ spokesperson.

The airline acknowledges the inconvenience the suspension may cause to travellers and the local community.

“We sincerely appreciate our customers’ understanding as we work with the relevant authorities to restore safe access to the airport,” the airline added.

At this stage flights IE894 and IE895 between Honiara and Lomlom scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday 31 July) have been cancelled.

Solomon Airlines will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available regarding the resumption of services.
