Operational Control Center Officer

Solomon Airlines Limited, the National Carrier of Solomon Islands is seeking an energetic, self-motivated and dynamic professional to become part of our Operational Control Centre (OCC) team in the established role of an Operational Control Centre (OCC) Officer. This position will be responsible for managing the flight operations of the airline in the safest, legally-compliant, customer friendly, efficient and effective way possible. This is best accomplished by ensuring the first decision in any situation is the best possible decision for all stakeholders.

Roles and Responsibilities

A. Responsible for daily flight operations of the airline in the safest, legally-compliant, customer–friendly, efficient and effective way possible
B. Monitor actual operation and has to perform needed changes and take actions to the planned and real time allocations based on operational requirement
C. Day to day flight data processing and validation on the operational day and the next day of operation in the airport operations database
D. Proactively manage impact of unplanned changes to schedule
E. Provide quality customer services
F. Ensure all passengers are informed of schedule changes in a polite professional manner
G. Coordinating with other airline for effective management of resources available
H. Report to Operations Control Centre Coordinator any flight disruptions or unforeseen circumstances affecting scheduled flights
I. Expected to remain informed of all factors which contribute to the daily operational practices of the airline, which includes but are not limited to;

I. Local Ground Services activity
II. Local, enroute, and destination city weather, NOTAMS (Notice To Airman regarding issues along their planned route or at their intended destination which may affect the safety of their flight.
III. ATC (Air Traffic Control)
IV. Aircraft Systems
V. Aircraft Scheduling
VI. Flight Deck and Cabin Crew Scheduling

Quality, Experience and Attributes

A. Knowledge of Aviation is preferred
B. Diploma or a Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in aeronautics, meteorology, aviation management, engineering, mathematics, statistical analysis or other areas of studies that may have prepared you for a vocation in an Airline Operations Control Centre
C. The preferred applicant will have been active in at least one of the following vocational areas within the past five years:

I. Aircraft Pilot
II. Aircraft Dispatcher
III. Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
IV. Meteorologist
V. Air Traffic Controller
VI. Have been responsible for significant Administration Duties

D. Possess an overall understanding of how an airline should efficiently operate
E. Possess a passion to consistently perform all duties in a confident, professional manner
F. Possess full comprehension of written procedures and instructions
G. Have positive and inspiring team work attitude
H. Possess a professional curiosity that fosters learning, creativity and improved operational practices
I. Employee should be capable of multitasking, working under pressure, and always be ready to respond to the numerous non-routine events that occur each day at an airline
J. Understand and applies Safety Principles
K. Good Communication skills
L. Computer literate
M. Able to work on shifts – applicant must be available to work on a rotating roster which covers all 7 days in a week and 365 days a year.
