Solomon Airlines expands Iumi Tugeda Holidays program to Guadalcanal on World Tourism Day

Posted on September 27, 2021 at 02:00 PM in General News

Solomon Airlines has chosen World Tourism Day to announce a significant expansion of the airline’s ‘Iumi Tugeda Holidays’ program to include more operators in Guadalcanal Province and the addition of Honiara and Central, West, and North West Guadalcanal options.

The discount holiday program offers a wide range of travel options across Solomon Islands now with 54 participating tourism operators.

The new range of ‘Iumi Tugeda Holidays’ packages flying into Honiara has been added from Marau, Auki, Rennell, Kirakira, Seghe, Fera, Munda, Gizo, Suavanao, Kagau, Santa Cruz, and Lomlom.

Seven Guadalcanal properties have joined the program initially as part of the expansion including Rock Haven Inn, Prestige Apartments, B-17 Beach Bungalows, Parangiju Mountain Lodge, Ginger Beach Retreat, Dolphin View Beach, and Heritage Park Hotel.

“We are continually looking at how we can expand the program and broaden the benefits for local residents and tourism operators alike, whilst international borders are restricted,” said Solomon Airlines Manager Commercial Colin Sigimanu.

“An objective of the Iumi Tugeda Holidays program is to spread domestic tourism throughout our provinces, by offering attractive discounted holiday packages and this is working well.

“Particularly with public service now benefitting from the program, it is only natural to also enable people from other provinces to take their holidays with our local tourism operators in Honiara and Guadalcanal,” he said.

“We encourage those with friends and families in our provinces to invite them to visit Guadalcanal and make the most of the opportunity to spend quality time together discovering new areas and catching up with family and friends at the same time,” he added.

“It is also fitting that we are making this announcement on World Tourism Day 2021 as the focus this year is Tourism for Inclusive Growth,” Mr Sigimanu added.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has hit our industry hard but also represents an opportunity to rethink the future of the tourism sector, to focus on gradually building our domestic industry and sharing the benefits across the community,” he said.
