Solomon Islands tourism sector joins for 'Iumi Tugeda' themed World Tourism Day event

Posted on September 29, 2021 at 05:00 PM in Solomon Islands Tourism

Tourism Solomons in partnership with the Ministry of Culture & Tourism (MCT), Solomon Airlines, the National Association of Inbound Tour Operators (NAOITO), Solomon Islands National University (SINU), and tourism operators will stage a major ‘Iumi Tugeda’ branded event to celebrate World Tourism Day on Friday, 01 October 2021.

Delayed this year in order for the Solomon Islands travel industry and community to pay their respects to the late Tourism Solomons CEO, Josefa ‘Jo’ Tuamoto, the theme for World Tourism Day 2021 is ‘Tourism for inclusive growth'.

The event will be staged at the Solomon Islands National University School of Tourism & Hospitality Grounds with activities starting at 08.00am.

Billed as a ‘full day of tourism awareness’, the annual event traditionally is geared towards giving the public more awareness into the local tourism industry, its importance to the local economy, and how the tourism sector markets the destination, both overseas and domestically with the current Solomon Airlines ‘Iumi Tugeda’ holiday program packages to be on full display.

The event is also aimed at providing information and the career opportunities the industry represents to the resident SINU and other students attending.

As in previous years, Tourism Solomons and MCT, Solomon Airlines, NAOITO, the tourism operators will set up information booths on the campus with each organisation giving an hour-long presentation between 11.00am and 4.00pm.

The event will conclude with a Solomon Airlines ‘Iumi Tugeda Holidays Packages’ prize-draw at 4.00pm
