Solomon Airlines operates special cargo flight Brisbane-Honiara-Brisbane

Posted on April 08, 2020 at 09:25 AM in General News

Solomon Airlines will operate a ‘cargo only’ flight this Wednesday 8th April from Brisbane to Honiara and return using the airline’s new Airbus A320 H4-SIB.

With the approval of the Solomon Islands Government, the flight will carry essential cargo continuing the airfreight link between Australia and Solomon Islands and the movement of critical supplies.

No passengers will travel on the flight in accordance with government direction and only essential flight crew will operate the service.

Solomon Airlines recently suspended all scheduled international passenger flights, in support of the Government’s COVID-19 action plan.

“Our intention is to resume scheduled international operations as soon as it is completely safe to do so, however at this stage our focus is to do what we can to support the Solomon Islands during trying and uncertain times,” CEO of Solomon Airlines, Brett Gebers said.

“We are working with the government and all stakeholders in protecting the health and welfare of people and this cargo flight will carry essential supplies needed in the Solomon Islands,” he added.
