The 2025 FlySolomons Peace Marathon was successfully staged on Saturday, 30 August 2025, marking the triumphant return of this landmark event, first launched in 2009 to promote peace, wellness, and community cohesion in the Solomon Islands.

Hosted by Solomon Airlines, the marathon attracted strong local participation alongside 11 international runners, highlighting its growing global appeal. The route led competitors from St. Joseph Tenaru School through significant WWII heritage sites, including Hell’s Point, Alligator Creek, Bloody Ridge, and Fighter One, commemorating alongside the 83rd Anniversary of the Battle of Guadalcanal and reinforcing the Solomon Islands as a premier Pacific WWII heritage tourism destination.

“We are proud to host the FlySolomon Peace Marathon, a testament to the resilience and spirit of the Solomon Islands while showcasing our country to the world,” said John Wopereis, Solomon Airlines Manager Commercial.

“The energy, dedication, and community spirit displayed by participants, volunteers, and sponsors made this event truly exceptional. We look forward to continuing its growth in the years ahead,” added Karen Foimua, Director of Travel Solomon.

Solomon Airlines extended its gratitude to St. Joseph Tenaru School for hosting the event and to more than 100 volunteers, including Solomon Island Scouts and other community supporters, who ensured smooth operations at marshalling points and water stations. The marathon was made possible through generous sponsorship from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Travel Solomon, Guadalcanal Travel Center, Solomon Islands Ports Authority, Skybus Travel & Tours, Tea Master, Heritage Park Hotel, Solomon Kitano Mendana Hotel, Blue Water, Delite Industries, Soltuna, and GS Agencies.

Finally, Solomon Airlines extends special thanks to our event organizer, Travel Solomon, for successfully coordinating and executing the marathon. Their efforts brought together all elements of the event, resulting in a successful first-time staging on the eastern side of Honiara, at Bloody Ridge and Tenaru.
