Conditions of Carriage

Please read the Solomon Airlines terms and conditions of carriage. The Solomon Airlines terms and conditions of carriage are available at Solomon Airlines offices and your E-Ticket wallet.

Security Notice

For security reasons, all knives, sharp objects or cutting implements of any kind and any length, whether or metal or other material, knitting needles, and sporting goods, must be packed in your checked luggage. They cannot be carried in your cabin baggage or on your person. If they are, the articles will be removed and not returned. Passengers carrying hypodermic needles will need to declare them at the screening point. Where possible documentation should be produced. Medication should have a professionally printed label identifying the medication or a manufactures name or Pharmaceutical label affixed.

Solomon Airlines Privacy Policy

Solomon Airlines collects information about you (including health information where necessary) to provide products and services to you, process your travel arrangements, conduct marketing activities and market research. If the information is not provided Solomon Airlines may not be able to provide the service requested. Solomon Airlines may disclose your personal information to its related Companies, other carriers, travel service providers, Organization which provide services to Solomon Airlines such as collecting commissions, your employer if you are travelling on a ticket provided through your employers corporate travel agreement with Solomon Airlines, various law enforcement agencies and Governments around the world for security, Customs and Immigration purposes.

Terms and Conditions of Carriage

1.   Condition of contract.

A.     This Itinerary and receipt dose not constitute a document of carriage and in the event of any differences between it and the record of booking in Solomon Airline Databases, the latter will prevail.

B.    Solomon Airlines carries passengers on flights (or other modes of transport) in Solomon Islands, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere on contracts that consist of: These Terms and Conditions. 
Solomon Airlines General condition of carriage (Passenger and Baggage),
Available on request and any applicable Tariffs filed by Solomon Airlines with Regulatory Bodies, International Conventions and Australia and New Zealand Laws and Solomon Airlines Oral or written directions to Passenger.
In the event of any inconsistency between these Terms and Conditions and the General conditions of carriage, The General conditions of carriage shall prevail.

          C.  If Solomon Airlines issues a Ticket or boarding pass for another Carriers flight, it
         
Does so only as an agent for that carrier. 

          D.  Unless otherwise stated, a Ticket is valid for one year from the issue date.

E.  Solomon Airlines will use efforts to carry you and your baggage reasonable in
Accordance with the date and time of the Flights specified, but does not guarantee. It will be able to do so. Schedule may change without notice.

F.  You must:
Comply with all applicable Government travel requirements, including obtaining Visas to enter the countries to which you are travelling and check in by required Check-in time.

G.  The contract between you and Solomon Airlines, including any exclusion or
Limitation of liability applies to the benefit:
Solomon Airlines employees, Agents and representatives, and Solomon Airlines
Hold that benefit on trust for them, and can, if requested by them, enforce it on their behalf.

H.  If you checked baggage on an Solomon Airlines flight has been lost or damage,
You must notify Solomon Airlines within 7 days and in case of delay, within 21 Days of delivery.

2.   Carry on baggage allowances. Baggage dimensions.  All international routes.  Piece allowance.

3.   Checked baggage allowances all flights

In addition to the baggage referred to the above, the following items may be carried free of charge:  infants food for consumption in flight and infants carry basket * A fully collapsible wheelchair * and/or a pair of crutches and/or walking stick and/or other prosthetic device for you if you are dependant on them.  * Infants carry baskets, wheelchairs may be used to board the aircraft, then will be stowed in the aircraft hold.  * Infants under 2 years of age for international travel.

      Notes

Except as provided for under the relevant provisions in 5 or 6, the airline is not liable for loss, damage to or delay in the delivery of fragile or perishable articles, money, jewellery, precious metals, negotiable papers, securities or other valuable (including but not limited to cameras and electronic equipment), business documents or samples which are included in the passengers checked baggage, whether with it without the knowledge of the airline.  Such personal valuable items should be carried on your person or in your carry on baggage under your care.

4.      International notice – limitation of liability

A.     If your trip has a destination or stop in another country other than the one from which you depart, a treaty known as the Warsaw convention may govern the liability of all airlines involved in your trip and may limit the amount of damages that can be recovered for your death or injury.  These limits can be as low as US$10,000.  However, many airlines have voluntary agreed to waive those limits (in whole or in part).

B.      Solomon Airlines will not rely on the limitation in article 22

(1)   Of the Warsaw convention of the Warsaw convention as amended at the Hague for any claim for recoverable compensatory damages arising under article 17 of that convention.

      C.      Solomon Airlines will not rely on any defence under article 20

(1)   Of the convention for that part of any claim for recoverable compensatory damages arising under article 17 of the convention that does not exceed 260,000 special drawings rights.  Otherwise Solomon Airlines will rely on all other defences under the convention.

      D.  In addition, in cases of death or bodily injury, if required by law, Solomon Airlines will make advance payments to the person entitled to compensation, if required to meet immediate economic needs, in proportion to the hardship suffered. 

      E.   Liability for loss, delay or damage is limited to about us$20 per kilo for checked baggage.

5.   Seating

Solomon Airlines does not guarantee you any, or any particular, seat even if your reservation is confirmed.  You must accept any seat allotted on the flight even if this involves a downgrade, or wait until the next flight on which a seat is available in the class of service paid for.

6.      Overbooking Notice

There is a chance a seat will not be available on a flight even if your reservation is confirmed.  This is due to the common practice in the airline industry of overbooking.  Solomon Airlines policy on overbooking is available at Solomon Airlines.

7.      Government and other taxes and charges

Travel internationally – The price of your ticket may include significant amounts of taxes, charges, and fees imposed on air transport by Governments, Authorities and airport operators (in the fare eg: goods and services tax, or shown separately as a tax/free/charge).   You may also be required to pay additional taxes, fees or charges not marked on your ticket.

8.   Insurance

      Personal and baggage insurance is recommended.

9.   Searches

Solomon Airlines, Government or airport offices may require you to submit to clothing and body searches, require you to submit your baggage to searches or inspections, and search or inspect your baggage with or without you.

10. Right to Refuse Carriage

Solomon Airlines reserves the right to refuse carriage to any person who seeks to travel in violation of applicable law, tariffs or the general conditions of carriage, or is otherwise in breach of terms and conditions, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or it is necessary for the safety or comfort of other passengers or for the protection of property.

11. Smoking

      Smoking is not permitted on any Solomon Airlines aircraft.

12.      Reservation Information

Solomon Airlines requires you to reconfirm your return flight within 72 hours prior to your date of departure:

13.      Dangerous Goods

For safety reasons, the following types of dangerous goods must not be carried in your baggage.  These goods fall into the following categories:

Corrosive gases, Toxic substances, Explosives, Infectious substances, Flammable liquids, Organic peroxides, Reactive materials and miscellaneous including asbestos, Dry ice and Internal combustion engines.
Further details on these categories can be found at Qantas.com brief cases and attaches cases incorporating dangerous goods such as lithium batteries or pyrotechnic devices, and
Disabling devices such as mace, pepper spray etc, containing irritant or incapacitating substance are totally forbidden.  Medicines and toiletries containing alcohol may be carried in limited quantities in checked or carry on baggage – no more than 0.5 litre or 0.5 kgs per item up to maximum of 2 litres or 2 kilos.  Small arms, sporting ammunition and fry ice may be carried in limited quantities under certain conditions.
